Computer Society of India organized an one-day online Computer Security Awareness Program for School Educators on June 15th 2024, Saturday
This awareness, which is usually fostered through training and continual education, attempts to protect both individuals and organizations against cyber incidents. The objective of the programme is to instill a cyber security-aware culture across the Institution.
This awareness program primarily focused on demonstrating how the password, phishing and ransomware attacks impact the education sector; the patterns of threats on data privacy and identity threats from social media affecting the dignity of humankind in general and young children in particular; the effect of victimization of women and girl children in cyber space on their livelihood and the minuses of the cybercrimes in reality were explored through case studies and finally the need for an incident response plan for the Institution was also discussed in this forum.
I spoke on the topic – Best Practices on Password hygiene, Phishing safety and ransomware alerts for School educators.
The event was well received by the participants and their feedbacks suggested to organize this kind of awareness program to reach all the teachers and school children in every school with the help of the Department of School Education, State Govt.
