Cyber Society of India :
Cybercrime & Legal awareness session on “Monetary Compensation to Cyber Victims – Adjudication under IT Act 2000” is jointly organised by the Tamil Nadu Police Cybercrime Wing and the Cyber Society of India (CySI) on July 23, 2023, at the Dr. MGR Janaki College of Arts and Science for Women in Adayar, Chennai.

As a President of Cyber Society of India, I delivered welcome address and set the context of topic outlining on current Cyber threat landscape, Digital Edge wherein we’re experiencing technological advancements, digital transformation and Generative AI role in log analytics, predictive analysis, etc.

Also emphasised on Adjudication Process & understanding of this clause is crucial in the context of the digital age, when cyber events are on the rise. Many people are unaware of the adjudicating procedure where the victim is not at fault and has lost money as a result of the intermediary’s negligence.

The Chief Guest Dr. Thiyagarajan, Senior Advocate – Madras High Court delivered a key note address, Ms. Sree Lisha Stebilla Theresa, DSP – Cybercrime wing, TamilNadu Police spoke functions of Tamilnadu Police Cybercrime wing, emerging cybercrime scenarios reported, security guidelines to safeguard against them and reporting procedures. Speaker Mr. Ranganath Mysore, Advocate delivered speech on “The Rights of Cyber Victims, for Negligence of Others” and provisions of adjudication under section 46 of the IT Act. The intermediary is required to implement “Reasonable security practise” to protect the computer and computer network, and if they fail to do so they will be liable for compensating damages for the negligence. At the end, Mr.Balu Swaminathan, Secretary – Cyber Society of India, proposed vote of thanks.
