Cyber Society Of India (CySI) along with Tamilnadu Police Cyber Crime Wing jointly organized a Panel discussion on “ How to Combat Current Cyber Crime Scenarios” on 02.09.2023 , Saturday at 10.30 am in Hotel Raj Sundar Palace in Durgabai Deshmikh Road, Adyar, Chenai.

Key Highlights:
As a President of CySI, I have moderated Panel discussion and set the context on various emerging cyber crime scenarios, modus of operandi using various social engineering techniques and emphasis on cyber awareenss is key to safeguard from cyber crime / scam attempts, also explained the various types of Cyber Crimes ( Instant loan App scams, Online shopping scams) that are being on surge and reported of late and guidelines to safeguard from such scams.

Mr.Balu Swaminathan, Seceretary of CySI, retired Additional superintendent of Police,Cyber Crime, spoke on the recent trends of Cyber Crime. He emphasized the need for preferring complaint by every Cyber Crime victim. He further stated that everyone should insulate themselves against various types of Cyber Crimes. By becoming more and more aware of such crimes. Other two panelist spoke on Ransomware and online job scams.

Mr.Thomas, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Ms, Pramila, Inspector of Police, Cyber Crimes spoke on how to combat Cyber Crimes, from Police Angle. They said that Cyber Crime Wing of Tamilnadu Police is creating awareness about various Cyber Crimes and how not to fall victim to the scams. Advised that if anyone becomes the victim of Cyber Crimes should immediately dial cybercrime helpline number 1930 to report, emphasised that awareness is the key to escape from Cyber Crimes and further stated that Cyber Crimes are of two types, viz., Financual and Non-Financial. DSP gave statistics of different types of Cyber Crimes reported last year.
